Hi. I’m Lorna, married to Brian (who is an ex-scientist, now dairy farmer) and we have two children, Will and Kate.  This blog is somewhat varied in its themes at times! It is primarily about interiors; the new looks for the coming season; new fabric and wallpaper collections; new arrivals to the shop; what’s new at the trade fairs etc. I will also ramble on about the farm though so you’ll hear about new calves, goat kids and pet lambs each spring as well as the latest fabric ranges!

Brian and I went to London in 1990, spent six months there and then a year in Bristol. We then lived in Salisbury for ten years where we studied for further degrees and worked as a scientist (Brian) and a teacher. We renovated and decorated houses in the evenings and at weekends, doing up a house on average every two and a half years and then just when the paint was dry, we’d get itchy feet and move on again! I also did an interior design diploma in my spare time.

We moved back to Ireland in 2002, bringing with us our 3 week old son. It was a huge change for us, moving from full-time employment as a scientist and a teacher to Brian working as a self-employed dairy farmer and I as a full-time mum! In 2005 we moved from Carlow to the farm in Crettyard (14 miles from Athy, 9 miles from Carlow and 17 miles from Kilkenny) and in November 2007, I opened three rooms of our home to house ‘Garendenny Lane Interiors’, aiming to offer a relaxing and welcoming space in which to view fabric, wallpaper, accessories and furniture within a real home setting.
