I love these plum colours and as for that throw – pure gorgeousness

And imagine having a hot cup of tea from the new Millie white teapot on a cold autumnal day - served with a hot fruit pie – yum

Do check out the Greengate we have in stock at the moment and the new ranges will be in soon :-)

What’s been happening at Garrendenny HQ

Well, there’s quite a bit happening at Garrendenny HQ this week but nothing is finished as yet!  The children learned how to paint!

Brian has made the irons for Kate’s new ‘old antique oak bed’ and will be making the frame for the mattress before Friday!  It has been primed and undercoated and will be finished before Friday!

This chair has been stripped and will be painted but not re-upholstered by Friday!  In case you are wondering what there is such an emphais on Friday, it is a certain little girl’s 6th birthday party and I’ve promised I’d have her bedroom finished bar curtains and such other inconsequential details!

Will’s tub chair has just gone to be re-covered in this fabric and I’ll be working on his bedroom next week.

2 Aga Men have called to discuss flue, connecting to hot press etc and I have definitely decided to go with a reconditioned Aga in the kitchen but I think the decision over the colour will require a blog post all on its own!!

We have had an addition to Garrendenny Farm – 18 chickens that are 2 weeks old. The intention is to kill, pluck and eat them ourselves. The only thing is they won’t be free range as there are too many predators (our dog, farm cats and a neighbouring fox with cubs) around to let them out until Brian has had time to build a run.

And we have even had a little bit of time for some socialising. Sheila from the Australian Folder of Ideas  blog has been holidaying in Ireland and came down to see us with her 2 sons. The children got on great and the eldest two are going to write to each other as penpals.  Sheila and I covered lots of topics too, she’s doing an interior design course at the moment and her blog is always full of lots of inspriration.

Life!

Published by Lorna under Posts to Blog

Oo err, apologies for lack of posts last week and probably this coming week.  I’m blaming good weather, gardening, farming, decorating and general paperwork and life!  Freebie Friday will be drawn on Friday instead so I’ll post it during the week.

Work starts on our burnt house this week.  I have to say RSA Insurance have been fine as have their loss adjustor. It has just taken time to get the quotes, get statements from tenants etc. What has taken the longest has been the fire brigade – trying to get an invoice from them.

No sign or memory of having received invoice, insurance company were waiting for it. Phoned fire brigade 2 weeks ago, told to ring Carlow Co. Council.  They said an invoice would have been sent the week following the fire to which I explained I hadn’t received it, could they resend.  I forgot about it and of course, it didn’t arrive.

Phoned again last Tuesday to be told to ring Fire brigade who had it on their files, told me the sum approximately but I would have to ring the council for the invoice.  Rang council who said they would look into it.  Rang me back to say they would send it out. Spoke to Loss Adjustor who said he will sign off on everything else but to keep chasing this invoice.

Thursday I ring council, speak to somebody else who says as the fire happened in Co. Laois (yes, part of Carlow town is in Co. Laois) that they probably have the invoioce and to ring them.  Managed to get a name of the person who deals with this in Laois county council.

Phoned to speak to that person, in a meeting.  Before I explained all the palaver to the person who was in the same dept, I told her it was about a fire etc and was she the right department to deal with same. She assured me she was. I recounted the story to which she said, ‘you need to speak to someone in the Environment section’.  Aaaagh.  Put me thru to Environment section where I had to leave a message on a voicemail. Has someone phoned me back? Of course not.

As many businesses use google alert to see what people are saying about them, I’m wondering if someone from Laois County Council – will contact me!!!  And then the council say they are low in funds – grrrr
