Christmas is coming: Toy show tonight

Published by Lorna at 7:41 pm under Christmas

That Irish institution The Late Late Show has its annual Toy show tonight and you have to be Irish to understand the excitement about the annual toy show – memories of childhood, staying up in your PJs, watching the childhood stars sing and dance, falling asleep before it was over and being carried up to bed, writing letters to Santa the next day. There seems to be more excitement this year and I’m not sure whether it is because we are all expecting the new host Ryan Tubridy to be so much better or whether I am imagining it is and it is just because my children have got to the stage that they are quite excited.  The duvets are downstairs already – they are really setting up camp!  I’ve a feeling Brian and I might be asleep before they are.

Will eventually put away his humungous car track and then said, ‘look, there’s loads of room for the Christmas tree now’ so I’ve promised they can put it up the weekend of the 12th (and that is early for me). The clear floor didn’t last too long, there’s a train track there now.

I remember the year I was pregnant with Kate, I did the  pregnancy test on the Monday and was in hospital on the Thursday on a drip as I was so sick, convinced I was going to die.  It was about 2 weeks before Christmas when I returned home and my dad was so worried about me because I didn’t want any Christmas decorations or tree up (which is most unlike me – I don’t like them up for ages but do love it all)and I remember he was so relieved when I relented around the 21st and said we’d put up a tree.

Anyway, with the Toy Show tonight, I just had to post another Christmassy picture.

I really really like the wallpapered panels – subtle and yet such a feature. Generally I don’t like white Christmas Trees but it looks great with the baubles co-ordinating with the wallpaper.

It sounds like a great buzz at yours. I hope Santa is good to Will and Kate.
