Winter Woollies

I love winter in many ways – especially if I am sitting in front of the open fire while it is lashing rain outside, not so much when I have to go out in it!  I have memories of reading Enid Blyton books, Hardy boys, Roahl Dahl, playing cards, drawing, playing scrabble in front of the fire protected from the elements.  These woollen furnishing fabrics from Abraham Moon look so cosy and inviting especially in their cushions and throws that I thought I would share some with you, especially as wools are so fashionable this year.

Moon’s CD of images at Decorex was encased in a novel CD case that grabbed my attention – easy, simple, yet very effective – it was simply a square of the woollen fabric that neatly held the CD – really tactile too and makes people like me who love fabric, really remember it.

The other nice thing about an Irish winter is that if we do unexpectedly get a nice sunny day, it’s a lovely surprise and we all talk about it all day long saying to everyone we meet ‘Isn’t it a lovely day’, ‘Long may it last’, ’sure it will be raining again tomorrow’ will be said numerous times across the country.  Compared to our summers, when a nice sunny spell is met with certainty that it will last and then huge disappointment when it only lasts for 3 days at most.  I’m not sure what planet I’m on but I put it down to being eternally optimistic but I never carry an umbrella (and often get wet!).  Let’s hope we have nice crisp frosty mornings followed by sunny days – the best winter days of all :)

I love the crisp clear winter mornings as well. Unfortunately, with us at the moment is damp fog and rain…my hair is not looking good!

Oh, you’re making me jealous of your snuggly-up weather. Beautiful woollies, I would never have thought of the cushions.
